Ubuntu Certified Professional

The Ubuntu Certified Professional is a training certification based on the LPI level 1 certification. To earn the UPC, candidates are required to pass the LPI 101, LPI 102 and the Ubuntu (LPI 199) exams. Exams can be written in any order. Two, five day courses, Ubuntu Professional Courses 1 & 2, will assist System Administrators to pass the required exams and achieve the Ubuntu Certified Professional certification.
The courses are designed for System Administrator levels and tests the candidate's ability to:
Perform easy maintenance tasks: help out users, add users to a larger system, backup & restore, shutdown & reboot
Install and configure a workstation (including X) and connect it to a LAN, or a stand-alone PC via modem to the Internet.
Work with the Linux command line

Ubuntu Professional: Course 1
A five day course which will help you prepare for the LPI 101 exam. By the end of the course, you will gain an understanding of :
Ubuntu Community, Ubuntu's technical infrastructure, sourcing help through support resources
Performing a basic Ubuntu installation
GNU & UNIX commands
Hardware & architecture
Linux installation & package management
Devices, Linux filesystems, filesystem hierarchy standards
The X Window system


Ubuntu Professional: Course 2
A five day course which will help you prepare for the LPI 1012 and Ubuntu 199 exams. By the end of the course, you will gain an understanding of :
The kernel - managing kernel modules, reconfiguring, building and installing a custom kernel and more
Printing - managing printers and print queues locally and remote
Documentation
Shells, scripting, programming & compiling
Administrative tasks
Networking fundamentals
Networking services
Security
Note: The courses can be taken independently of each other although they are designed to follow a sequential order.
